The Signature Atelier is an intimate destination workshop designed to educate and inspire photographers looking to develop their signature style, and build a luxury, high-end, business. Located in the French countryside, the workshop will consist of five days of education, interspersed with two portfolio-building shoots, designed to aid photographers in elevating their business to a luxury level, clarifying their vision, and developing their signature work.
Our mission is to send each photographer home with a renewed sense of
inspiration for their business, and a fresh passion for their craft.

The
Throughout planning for The Signature Atelier, we kept coming back to two things: assisting business owners in moving toward a high-end, luxury business model, teaching photographers how to find inspiration that will help identify their signature style.
With those two ideas in mind, we've planned two styled shoots that will most certainly serve to inspire, and will give attendees an opportunity to capture gorgeous portfolio work!
Our wedding styled shoot will take place at the château where all workshop-goers are staying with a fully-styled table, models, a custom-designed Katherine Bignon gown, and various wedding details. Attendees will have access to medium format film cameras and will receive two rolls of film each to try their hand at a new medium! Film is one of our main sources of inspiration, and we're so excited to give photographers the chance to shoot analogue!
The portrait session shoot will take place in town within driving distance of the château (transportation provided). Attendees will have the opportunity to shoot portfolio-worthy work while asking questions and receiving feedback as they shoot.

In addition to the two styled shoots throughout the workshop, attendees will also have the option to participate in a third portfolio-building shoot in Paris on July 20th, the day after the workshop officially concludes. Taking place in an idyllic location in the heart of Paris, attendees who have opted in will have the opportunity to photograph gorgeous bridal portraits in one of the most inspiring cities in the world. Afterward, participating attendees will join Abby & Katherine for a farewell brunch in a classic Parisian café.
When crafting The Signature Atelier, we want each photographer to walk away from this week renewed, ready to create from a place of fresh inspiration! In a career where so much of our work is done on a computer, we're getting you out from behind the screen and putting your hands to work with three mediums you might never have experimented with before!
Throughout our time together, you'll take part in three hands-on classes:
Film 101, where Abby will teach the fundamentals of getting started with film- from using a light meter to rating your film, from working with a lab to choosing film stocks, she holds nothing back. Later that same day, attendees will be offered the chance to shoot with a medium format film camera during our styled wedding shoot.

Watercolor, where Katherine will instruct on painting your first illustration, and send you home with a few supplies of your own.

One of our intentions with this workshop is to take the time to slow down, and truly enjoy feeling restfully inspired. What better way than by stripping away all the pressure and expectation, and being creative for creativity’s sake."
Silk ribbon dyeing, where you'll learn the basics of coloring hand-torn strips of silk to your preferred shade, for future use in styling kits, bridal vignettes, and more.

Silk ribbon is an iconic addition to any bridal suite styling kit, and we’re going to take the time to slow down, introducing you to the unique process that goes into creating it. You’ll walk away with a mini collection of hand dyed silk ribbons, perfect for adding an elegant touch to your bride's thoughtful details."
